Carnaross Gaelic Football Club County Meath Ireland

125th Anniversary & Presentation Night

2013 marked the 125th Anniversary of our club and we hosted a celebration evening on Saturday 28th December 2013. The evening began with a juvenile game between Carnaross and Round Towers for the Shane O’Connor Memorial Cup. Carnaross ran out winners on the night and we would like to thank Round Towers for taking part in the game. Following the game Carnaross captain Pauric O’Connor was presented with the cup by Alice and Bernard O’Connor.

The game was followed by the unveiling of a plaque to honour two fantastic servants to our club, Mattie O’Brien and Jack Smith. Both Mattie and Jack gave outstanding service to Carnaross GFC over the years and it is great to see their hard work being honoured. One of our honorary presidents, Tommy Smith (brother of Jack) assisted our Secretary Eugene Comaskey with the unveiling of the plaque.

This was followed by the unveiling of a second plaque to honour all Carnaross players who have won Inter-County All-Ireland titles. Another club president, Ray Manning, unveiled the plaque. With no fewer than eighteen All-Ireland medals won by Carnaross men, it is certainly something to be very proud of for a small club.

The evening was finished off with a presentation night in the Carnaross Inn. Our winning Under-15 team were presented with their medals by Meath’s 2013 Player of the Year and All-Star Nominee, Mickey Newman. Ian Donoghue was awarded 2013 Player of the Year and Liam Brogan picked up the 2013 Young Player of the Year.
