Carnaross made the short journey to neighbours Moynalty for the penultimate round of the Tailteann Cup with the hosts emerging victorious.

The visiting team burst out of the blocks when Cillian Comaskey broke down a long ball for Niall McDonnell to finish emphatically to the net for the opening score. The 2 men inside were proving a handful and combined again with McDonnell turning provider for Comaskey to split the posts. Paddy McDermott added his name to the scoresheet meaning the full forward line all had a score within 7 minutes of play.

Carnaross were dominating the middle third with Cian McGlynn to the fore. Moynalty eventually found their rhythm and knocked over 3 points in a row. Cillian Comaskey added a second before Paddy McDermott converted a free to leave Carnaross leading by 2 points but Moynalty established parity before half time leaving it 1-05 to 0-08 at the turn of ends.

The third quarter remained very even with Paddy McDermott continuing to excel kicking a fine score from play before adding another placed ball out of his hands. Moynalty continued to stay within touching distance as the game entered the melting pot. Cormac Yore’s persistence paid off when he struck for a goal after his first effort was denied.

Darragh O’Reilly got involved by adding 2 points in a short period of time but Moynalty refused to give up. They hit a purple patch where they kicked 5 long range points in a row to establish a firm lead that Carnaross couldn’t regain despite McDermott’s late free.
