Dunderry 2-10 Carnaross 1-5
Feis Cup (Round 1)
Played in Dunderry – 25/6/2009
A strong final ten minutes from Dunderry put an end to the Feis Cup campaign for Carnaross at the first hurdle.
It was Dunderry who raced into an early lead scoring the first three points of the game. A fine double save from Carnaross keeper Cillian Comaskey seemed to inspire his team. They had levelled matters after about fifteen minutes with Niall McDonnell and John L McGee (2) hitting the target. Dunderry restored their lead with a point from play before Ollie Murphy had the sides level again heading for half time. Another save from Comaskey rescued Carnaross again before they hit the front when John L McGee ran onto a long ball and finished low to the net to give Carnaross a 1-4 to 0-4 half-time lead.
Dunderry once again started brightest at the beginning of the second-half and after ten minutes had the margin reduced to a single point while Paddy Nugent scored a point from play for Carnaross. Once again Cillian Comaskey was called upon to deny the home side two goals while Carnaross also spurned goal chances with John L McGee and Niall McDonnell going close. Dunderry finally scored a goal however with ten minutes remaining and this proved to be the boost they needed as they went on to add another and finished up eight point winners.
