Carnaross made a winning start to the B League after leading from start to finish in a tough battle with Simonstown.
Carnaross started the game well and points from Ollie Murphy and Shane Casserly gave them an early lead. Things got better for the home side when Stephen Flattery found the net for the games opening goal after fifteen minutes. Simonstown hit their first point three minutes later and reduced the margin to a point when they converted a quick free to the net. Brian Comaskey finished the first-half scoring with a point to leave Carnaross leading 1-3 to 1-1 at the break.
Stephen Flattery scored the first point of the second-half but it was cancelled out by a Simonstown point a minute later. Longwood got off to the perfect start with an early goal which was closely followed by a point. Carnaross did hit back when they were awarded a penalty after a foul on Liam Brogan. Paul Donoghue stepped up to take the spot-kick and made no mistake with a low shot past the keeper. Dean Connell then had the sides level with a fine point from play before Longwood edged in front once more with another point.
