Club Newsletter - December 2018

As the year draws to a close, we would like to give our members a brief update on club matters and upcoming events.

Football Matters
On the pitch, our adult footballers have enjoyed great success of late, winning both the Tailteann Cup and B League div 5, while we gained promotion to div. 2 of the A League for 2019. We were also desperately unlucky to have been narrowly beaten in two Championship semifinals back in the Autumn. With Tom Shine to continue as manager of our first team for 2019, hopefully we can continue to build on this year’s success.

We must give a special mention also to 2nd team manager John L McGee, having managed the team to Junior D honors last term, we were unbeaten in the group stages of this years Junior C only to lose out in the semi finals to Clann na nGael. Winning the B League however, meant 2 trophies in 2 years for our 2nd string.

A word of congratulations also to Carnaross NS on their recent success in the Cumman na mBunscoil final. This is a feat that hasn’t been achieved since 1994, well done to all involved.

Dinner Dance
A club dinner dance will be held on Saturday 26th January 2019 at 7.30 in the Headford Arms Hotel, Kells. Presentations on the night will include Tailteann cup and B League medals, annual presentation of Seamus Reilly trophy to the Player of the year and the Young player of the year award. Tickets are €35 and will be available in early January.

Friends of Carnaross GFC
Having launched our new fundraiser, Friends of Carnaross GFC, earlier in the year, we must thank all our members who have joined up and made it such a huge success. This monthly draw has given the club a much-needed regular revenue stream, which allows us to plan ahead with a steady budget. We hope for your continued support for this draw in the next cycle and beyond.

On Sunday 30th December, mass will be celebrated @ 11.15 am for deceased members of the club. Afterwards, in Carnaross Hall, we will be holding our December Friends of Carnaross GFC Bumper Draw, with added prizes. Refreshments will be provided free of charge. All are welcome!

AGM
Our AGM will be held in the clubhouse on Jan 4th at 8pm. All members are asked to attend with some important points to be discussed on the evening, including the significant proposed changes to the club championship and league structure. Click here to view these proposals. There will also be a brief presentation from our development committee, with the view of getting the backing from our members to begin construction work in early 2019.

Wishing all our members a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy 2019

Le meas,

Eamonn Mac Comascaigh
