Played in Bective – 13/3/2016
Carnaross made their Tailteann Cup exit at the first hurdle following defeat to Bective for the second weekend in a row.
The opening exchanges were close as both sides created plenty of chances. Bective took an early lead with three points in the opening ten minutes while Carnaross replied with a point from Cian Gillic. Carnaross then went on to take the lead midway through the half when Michael Brogan rose highest to fist Peter Mullan’s long pass to the net. However, their lead was short lived as the next score was a goal for the home side five minutes later. Bective went on to land five points before the break while Carnaross could only manage one more which came from Shane Casserly. The half finished with Bective leading 1-8 to 1-2 but Carnaross could have been closer but for some wayward shooting.
Bective stretched their lead further with a converted free and a ’45 early in the second-half. The sides exchanged two points each with Tomás Plunkett and Cillian Comaskey hitting the target for Carnaross. Bective added another point to bring their lead to nine points but Carnaross refused to give up and hit back thanks to Cillian Comaskey hitting 1-1 in the space of two minutes. However, this was as close as Carnaross would come as Bective went on to add three more points before the final whistle.
