Carnaross started their League campaign under lights when they faced neighbours Ballinlough and as always it proved to be a tough encounter which could have went either way but both sides ended up sharing the spoils.
The home side started brightest and three points from play gave them an early lead after about five minutes. Carnaross responded with a free from captain John L McGee before Ballinlough restored their three point lead with a free of their own. After 15 minutes Carnaross levelled matters when McGee converted a penalty after being dragged down in the area. However Ballinlough once again restored their three point lead with two coming from play. John L McGee hit a point from play following a good pass from Stephen Flattery before Ballinlough finished the first half scoring with a point from play to leave the home side in front 0-8 to 1-2.
Carnaross showed much improvement in the second period but despite their early possession it was Ballinlough who opened the scoring with a free.Carnaross halved the deficit with two points from play coming from Brian Comaskey and McGee. Another free kick kept Ballinlough in front before a McGee free and a point from play from substitute Damien Smith left a point between the sides with about ten minutes remaining. Ballinlough once again restored their two-point lead but Carnaross refused to give in and another substitute Daniel Reilly split the posts to leave the minimum between the sides going into the closing stages. The momentum was now with Carnaross and following a few missed chances they managed to level matters in added time with a well taken point from midfielder Brian Comaskey.
It was a fine team performance from Carnaross with maximum effort from every player. A strong second-half performance, particularly from the defence and midfield who restricted the opposition to just three points giving the forwards every chance of getting the team back into the game following a slow start.

Carnaross played host to senior side Trim under lights and a goal from the visitors midway through the second-half ensured they went home with maximum points.
Trim opened the scoring with an early point from play. They went on to add two more points and could have been further in front but for a number of wides.John L McGee scored a fine point from play and followed up soon afterwards when he converted a 45. Carnaross also spurned chances and had five wides in the first-half. Only one point separated the teams at the break with Trim leading 0-3 to 0-2.
Carnaross made a quick start to the second-half with Declan Reilly reacting quickly to a ball that came back of the post to level matters. Damien Smith was then fouled and John L McGee put Carnaross in front with the free kick. Trim levelled the game once again before regaining their lead scoring the next three points. Then came the goal and suddenly Carnaross found themselves six points behind. Trim added another point from play to stretch their advantage to seven. It could have been more but Carnaross keeper Shane Comaskey made two good saves to keep them out. Alan Smyth netted for Carnaross going into the closing stages but it was too little at this stage as Trim finished the scoring with a free before the finish.

Carnaross got their first League win when they were one point winners following a tough encounter with senior side Rathkenny.
Declan Reilly opened the scoring for Carnaross with a point from play but Rathkenny responded by taking the lead with two points. John L McGee levelled matters after ten minutes with a point from play. Goalkeeper Cillian Comaskey made a fine save to keep out Rathkenny. Carnaross scored the only goal of the game at the midway stage of the half when Declan Reilly finished off a move involving John L McGee and Ollie Murphy. Murphy soon increased the lead with a point from play. Rathkenny then scored the last two scores of the half to leave two points between the teams at the break, 1-3 to 0-4.
A quick start to the second period from the visitors left the sides level once again with two points from play. Ollie Murphy restored the lead with a close range free. Substitute Daniel Reily scored an impressive point from a tight angle before Murphy added another point from play to put three points between the teams. Rathkenny responded with another point from play before John L McGee cancelled it out with a point from play. Carnaross seemed to have done enough to win the game but two more Rathkenny points in the closing stages resulted in a tight finish. However Carnaross managed to hold on to secure victory by the minimum margin.

Carnaross put up a brave effort away to senior side Skryne but the home side proved too strong.
Skryne had scored 1-4 before Carnaross got off the mark. However they fought their way back into the game with a goal from Dermot McGee along with points from John L McGee and a fine effort from Niall McDonnell. The home side scored their second goal to leave three points between the sides at half-time.
Skryne had a strong second-half as they stretched their lead further as Carnaross missed the chances that were presented to them. John L McGee went close for a goal, Niall McDonnell seen his effort come back off the upright and another chance was just about cleared off the line.

Carnaross made the short trip to face neighbours Cortown and following a poor performance they proved to be no match for the home side.
Declan Reilly opened the scoring putting Carnaross into an early lead. This was the only time they were in front however as Cortown scored the next four points to lead by three points after about fifteen minutes. Carnaross responded with two points from John L McGee to reduce the margin to one point.Cortown scored the final score of the first-half as both sides failed to raise a flag for the final ten minutes. Carnaross were lucky to be still in touch at this stage as Cortown were guilty of hitting eight wides but still led 0-5 to 0-3 at the break.
Cortown continued to dominate the early stages scoring two points from play. They were then awarded a penalty which they converted. Carnaross found themselves with an extra man when Cortown had a player dismissed for a second yellow card. Ciaran McDonnell scored a fine point from play and John L McGee reduced the margin further with a free. Cortown however responded again scoring the next three points. Ollie Murphy scored a goal going into the closing stages but this proved to be only consolation as Cortown finished the scoring with another point. A bad evening got worse for Carnaross when they had Brian Comaskey sent off with two minutes remaining.

Carnaross were denied what would have been a well deserved victory when a late penalty from St. Michaels ensured the north Meath neighbours would share the points in a highly entertaining encounter.
St. Michaels hit the front first with a point from play before Carnaross hit back with two points from John L McGee and Niall McDonnell. The home side then enjoyed their best period of the game and they hit 1-2 without reply to take a four point lead. Carnaross reduced the lead when Paddy Nugent pounced on a loose ball in the area to finish to the net. St. Michaels responded with two converted frees. Niall McDonnell punched a point for Carnaross and St. Michaels finished the first-half scoring with a point from play to leave them 1-6 to 1-3 ahead.
John L McGee opened the scoring after the break with a free kick before St. Michaels cancelled it out soon afterwards. Carnaross were then on level terms when Ollie Murphy expertly finished to the net. The game was now a very tight encounter and both sides went on to score three points each with John L McGee, Niall McDonnell and Ollie Murphy hitting the target for Carnaross. Going into the closing stages of the game Carnaross were beginning to dominate proceedings winning a lot of possession and when John L McGee, Paddy Nugent and Dermot McGee added on three more points it seemed they had done enough. However the home side were awarded a penalty at the death which was converted to leave the sides level.

Carnaross played host to St. Ultans in the A League and it was the senior side who ran out ten point winners.
St Ultans scored two early goals in the first-half following loose marking by the Carnaross defence and with further points they raced into an early lead. However Carnaross fought back well and following points from John L McGee and Patrick Nugent and a goal from McGee they went in a half-time just six points behind, 2-8 to 1-5.
After about 15 minutes of the second-half St. Ultans still only led by six points. However Carnaross began to tire and St Ultans got some late scores to finish the match comfortable winners.
Best for Carnaross were Dermot McGee and Thomas Nugent in defence, Brian Comaskey and Conor Woods at midfield and John L McGee and Patrick Nugent in attack.

Carnaross suffered a heavy defeat when they made the visit to Syddan which leaves them firmly in relegation trouble with games running out.
A lively start from the home side left Carnaross trailing by 0-3 to 0-1 after ten minutes with Ciaran McDonnell hitting the target. Syddan then got the opening goal of the game before Ollie Murphy scored a point for Carnaross. Syddan continued their domination by adding to their tally with four more points in a row. Two points from Niall McDonnell gave Carnaross a boost before Ollie Murphy hit the net for Carnaross to bring them right back into the game. John L McGee added another point from a free while Ciaran McDonnell was unlucky not score a goal when he forced a save from the Syddan keeper. Syddan scored the final score of the half leaving them 1-10 to 1-5 ahead at the break.
Carnaross needed to start the second-half strongly but received a hammer blow when Syddan scored their second goal followed by a point which suddenly left nine between the sides. Patrick Nugent scored a point from play before Syddan put the game beyond doubt scoring 1-3 without reply. Niall McDonnell scored a point for Carnaross while Ollie Murphy saw his fisted goal attempt come back off the crossbar. Carnaross did score a goal however when John L McGee converted a penalty after being taken down in the square but it was of little consolation as Carnaross were no match for the home side who scored 16 out of their 18 scores from play. A bad evening was made worse when Thomas Nugent and Dermot McGee were dismissed late on along with another player from Syddan in three separate incidents.

A fine performance from Carnaross resulted in a much needed win which takes them out of the relegation zone with two games remaining.
An early point from John L McGee was cancelled out straight away when Dunderry converted a close range free. Niall McDonnell then put Carnaross ahead again with a point from play before his brother Ciaran extended the lead with a well taken ’45. Dunderry responded with two points from play to leave the sides level. Another point from Niall McDonnell put Carnaross ahead again before McGee scored his second point from play. Dunderry scored another point to keep in touch but John L McGee finished a fine move involving Niall McDonnell and Ollie Murphy with a well taken goal. Dunderry finished the half with two more points to leave a half-time scoreline of 1-5 to 0-6.
Dunderry scored the next two points to leave the sides level. Carnaross once again refused to let the visitors take the lead as a John L McGee free put them in front. Dunderry levelled the sides once more before Carnaross began to dominate proceedings as McGee scored three points without reply with ten minutes remaining. Dunderry had a chance to level matters but keeper Cillian Comaskey kept them out with a fantastic save diverting the goal attempt over the bar. This proved to be a boost to the home side who finished the game strongly with a fantastic point from Niall McDonnell and a Ciaran McDonnell free.

Carnaross produced their second successive win in the League and more importantly ensured they would be playing in Division 2 again next year by steering clear of the relegation zone with one game remaining.
John L McGee put them in front with a point from play coming straight from the throw-in. Ratoath responded immediately and scored two points to take the lead. McGee then levelled matters when he scored a fine point following a run that covered one-third of the pitch. Ollie Murphy gave Carnaross the lead midway through the half with a close range free. Carnaross were lucky to be back in front at this stage as Ratoath were guilty of hitting five wides. Niall McDonnell then picked up a breaking ball and set off on a run from the forty yard line leaving defenders trailing behind him and he finished well to the net.Ratoath scored two more points late in the half while McGee scored a free for Carnaross to leave them 1-4 to 0-4 ahead at the break.
Ratoath were quick to cut into the lead after the resumption and two quick points left them one behind. John L McGee hit a point from play but once again Ratoath continued to cause problems scoring three more points without reply to take a one point lead. Carnaross found themselves under pressure and they responded magnificently by controlling the game for the next ten minutes. Niall McDonnell scored the equalizer before a point each from Peter Nugent, Damien Smith, John L McGee and a fantastic effort from Ollie Murphy left four between the sides with time running out. Ratoath refused to surrender and two late points left them chasing a goal which they couldn’t find and ultimately condemned them to relegation.
