The win keeps Carnaross in the hunt for the knockout stages as they await results from the other games. This was a tight affair throughout with Rathkenny setting the early pace but a brace of goals in quick succession from Shane Yore kept the home side in touch. Carnaross pushed on to take a 3-5 to 0-7 half time lead with Richard Mulvey netting the third goal.
The second half continued to be a tight affair with Carnaross controlling the early stages but Rathkenny refused to lose touch. Richard Mulvey found the net for the second time to bring his personal tally to 2-2. Carnaross led going into the closing stages but conceded a penalty which was converted by Rathkenny to put them in front by a point. However, Carnaross rallied and Stephen Dawson landed two late points from play before giving a fist pump to his adoring fans!
