BFL R2: Carnaross overcome Ultans in downpour

Carnaross came out on top in this Division 4 B League encounter played in horrendous conditions in their home grounds of Páirc Naomh Chiarán.

Carnaross 1-12 St. Ultans 0-6

B League (Division 4)
Played in Carnaross – 14/3/2019

Both teams struggled to gain a foothold in early proceedings and after 15 minutes, it was level at 2 points apiece. Declan Reilly accounted for the opening score before Paddy McDermott opened his account.

The two then combined for the only goal of the game when Reilly was fouled, McDermott converted the penalty expertly into the top left corner of the net. Luke Gillic capped an industrious performance with a point from play as Carnaross finished the opening half with a 1-5 to 0-3 lead.

Paddy McDermott continued to take the game to the Bohermeen outfit and finished with 1-5 to his name. Stephen Flattery lit up the encounter despite the drab conditions with 3 superbly-taken simultaneous points in the second half.

Cormac Yore clipped out a point with sweetly struck drive before Cian Gillic squeezed over a beauty from the tightest of angles. It wasn’t a night for the faint hearted as the rain thundered down but in fairness to both sides, they served up an encounter full of grit, determination and effort from start to finish.
