An understrength Carnaross side travelled to Stamullen and were comprehensively beaten by an impressive showing from Senior team St. Pats.
Carnaross 1-6 St. Patricks 4-16
A League (Division 2)
Played in Stamullen – 2/6/2019
The game began quite evenly with both sides denied goal chances before St. Pats kicked over a trio of scores. Carnaross responded in the form of a free from Paddy McDermott sandwiched between two more points from the men in the green and white. Thomas Nugent then made the game a contest when he rounded the keeper expertly to finish a good team move to the net. Killian Porter drew the sides level with 10 minutes in the half remaining. This was as good as it got though for the North Meath men as St. Pats knocked in a quick fire 2-2 to leave the half time score at 1-3 to 2-6.
St. Pats superiority was telling in the second half as they emptied a strong bench who began to stretch the tiring efforts of Carnaross. Carnaross fought valiantly with the youth of Cormac Yore and Luke Gillic impressing with their guile and endless running. Niall McDonnell, McDermott and Flattery accounted for the second half scores as St. Pats couldn’t miss on a glorious day for football.
