B League (Division 5)
Played in Carnaross – 22/5/2018

Carnaross welcomed Donaghmore Ashbourne to Páirc Naomh Ciarán for this B League encounter played in idyllic conditions. As the scoreline suggests, Carnaross were never really tested and dominated proceedings throughout.

The twin threat of Mc Dermott in the right corner and Reilly in the left corner persistently terrorised the helpless Moores defence. With a combined total of 15 points, 11 from play, they simply couldn’t miss and were unplayable on the night.

Killian Porter and Fleming covered every blade of grass on the well-presented pitch working back tirelessly and breaking out of defence relentlessly. John Brogan was a rock at full back and even managed to claim a mark and set up a score despite wearing the number 3 jersey.

Thomas Nugent used his guile and experience to sweep up loose ball to ensure the maroon and saffron men never waned. Aidan Lynch enjoyed a fine return to action beating his man to every delivery and was ably assisted by Matt O’Reilly’s steely determination and Cian Yore’s serenity.

Cian O’Reilly continued his rich vein of form dictating proceedings by nonchalantly orchestrating the North Meath men’s offense. Ollie Murphy easily found his targets on kickouts and was alert to the dangers that arose in the Carnaross rear guard. Brian Comaskey helped himself to 2 points and claimed various kickouts with consummate ease.

Stephen Flattery drove at the opposition at every available opportunity which reaped great rewards helping himself to 4 points, including a delightful and delicate effort from an acute angle. Shane Casserly converted a penalty, which he himself created in the second half, which his industrious and faultless performance deserved.

The substitutions that were introduced continued to take the game to their opponents ensuring the pace and intensity never dropped.

Overall Carnaross performed admirably on a night where they were rarely tested. Much tougher contests lie ahead in this competition but Carnaross will look forward to these encounters with great confidence being unbeaten in all 4 games this year.
